Product NewsFord Employs Toyota Technology for New Escape Hybrid SUV Toyota Motor Corp. recently announced that it has licensed to Fold Motor Company Toyota's hybrid control technology for use with Ford's hybrid electric system. Ford plans to use its own hybrid electric system on the Escape Hybrid, with the Toyota technology providing the electronic controls for the system. In addition, Ford is licensing Toyota's emission control technology for lean-burning engines. Ford plans to introduce a hybrid-electric version of its popular Escape sport-utility vehicle later this summer. It will be the world's first full hybrid SUV, according to Ford.
